Check what you have
- EG4 LifePower4, EG4-LL or EG4 wall-mount batteries with RS485 communication ports.
- Battery packs addressed with their DIP switches (your installer already did this if the bank talks to the inverter).
- A USB charger and an outlet near the rack; 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi at the rack.
1. Find a free RS485 port
EG4 packs link to each other through their RS485 ports in a daisy chain, and the master pack talks to the inverter. The box joins that chain at a free RS485 port, usually on the last pack. If every port is used, send us a photo of the front panels: we will tell you the cleanest way to connect.
2. Note the pack addresses
Write down the DIP address of each pack. In the box settings you enter how many packs you have, so the monitor polls each one in turn.
3. Plug in
Connect the supplied RJ45 cable from the free RS485 port to the box, then power the box over USB-C. The screen starts and asks for Wi-Fi setup.
Leave the battery breakers and power cables alone. This is a data connection only.
4. Connect to Wi-Fi
Join the Wi-Fi network the box creates, choose your home network on the page that opens, then set a dashboard password.
5. First readings
Browse to http://moniwatt.local (or the IP on the screen). Each pack appears with its own line within a few seconds.
If something looks wrong
- A pack missing: its address is outside the range you entered.
- No pack at all: the cable is in a CAN port, or the bus is not terminated where it should be.
- Inverter shows a communication error after connecting: unplug the box and contact us with your inverter model; we will adjust the polling for your setup.
